Il ajoute : « Un grand merci aussi à sa muse qu’il a immortalisée avec la chanson Banna. En recevant son prix avec son épouse, Omar Pène donne un bel exemple de masculinité positive. »
Le Prix d’Excellence, institué en juin 2017, a pour but de « promouvoir l’excellence et le mérite de personnes physiques ou morales qui, à travers leurs actions, initiatives, créativité, services, ont immensément contribué à promouvoir l’intégration régionale, la paix et le développement socio-économique de la Région Cedeao ».
