Une tragédie a frappé la communauté de Joal avec la découverte du corps sans vie de Babacar Fall, un jeune talibé âgé de seulement 10 ans. Le garçon avait été porté disparu depuis dimanche dernier avant d'être retrouvé mort dans un puits du quartier « Khar Yalla » lundi dernier. Selon les témoignages de ses camarades de daara, Babacar s'était rendu au puits pour se laver, une habitude quotidienne après les cours de 17 heures.
D’après L’Observateur, la matinée qui a suivi la disparition de Babacar a été remplie d’inquiétude et de consternation parmi les talibés du daara. Le maître coranique, Serigne Badiane, s'est rapidement rendu compte de l'absence du jeune garçon lorsqu'il n'est pas apparu parmi ses camarades à l'heure habituelle.
C’est plus tard dans la journée que les effets personnels du jeune talibé ont été découverts à proximité du puits de « Khar Yalla » et de son corps sans vie flottant à la surface de l'eau. Les autorités locales, y compris la brigade de Joal et les sapeurs-pompiers de Mbour, sont intervenues pour repêcher la dépouille.
Originaire du village d'Abdou Bouré dans le département de Nioro (région de Kaolack), Babacar Fall a été transporté à la morgue du centre de santé de Joal pour une autopsie, conformément aux procédures légales. Bien que le maître coranique n'ait pas été arrêté pour l'instant, une enquête est en cours pour élucider les circonstances tragiques entourant la mort de ce jeune talibé.
